Called "the greatest shortstop in the world" by none other than Cool Papa Bell, Willie Wells could do it all on both sides of the field and was a mentor to the likes of Jackie Robinson and Monte Irvin. Wells was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1997. His blue-ink signature and all of the handwriting (which appears to be in Wells' hand) average "9" strength. The Elmwood Giants FDC is apparent VG with mailing wear. It's housed along with a 1997 Cooperstown FDC within a triple-matted, double-sided frame measuring 12-1/2" x 15-3/4". Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
