Straight from a freshly discovered Cosmo-Sileo collection, this dynamic spring-training shot freezes DiMaggio at the height of a leaping grab. It's baseball as ballet, poetry in motion, with a jubilant expression on his youthful face. Interestingly, an identical image was offered at auction in 2017 and attributed to the master photographer William Jacobellis. Here, credit goes to Cosmo-Sileo whose desirable 1930s-style stamp occupies the reverse. As Bronx Bomber buffs know well, Cosmo-Sileo and Thorne Studios were the official Yankees photographers throughout the Ruth/Gehrig/early-DiMaggio era. This fine example (and the adjacently offered batting version) showcases clean, crisp EX-MT condition. It also resembles a Spalding glove premium used for advertising promotion around the same time.
