Description

Coming down the stretch in the 1951 season, the New York Giants went a remarkable 37-7, to force a three-game playoff versus crosstown rivals, the Brooklyn Dodgers. Trailing in the third game of the playoff, the Giants sent Bobby Thomson to the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning, with two runners on base. Thomson famously connected for the "Shot Heard 'Round the World", clinching "The Miracle of Coogan's Bluff" with a dramatic walk-off homer. For their tremendous efforts, Thompson and the Giants were rewarded with a trip to the World Series, and here we have a prized memento from their determined campaign.

Presented is a 1951 New York Giants World Series press pin. Crafted by famous New York jewelers Dieges & Clust as noted by a reverse side hallmark, this prestigious pin takes the form of an enameled baseball, with a black Giants name outlined in gold, and the legend "Press 1951 World Series" in gold lettering. Moderate wear results in an (EX) rating for this handsome pin, which is outfitted with a screw post and fastening disc on the back.
