Author Frank Graham's Putnam Series tribute to Yankeedom was published in 1943, when the war came home to Yankee Stadium as DiMaggio, Henrich, Ruffing and Rizzuto left for military service. By 1945-46, baseball was returning to normalcy—and that's when a devoted autograph collector toted around this First Edition hardback copy in order to acquire nearly 50 Yankee signatures. All appear on the front and back of the half-title page and range from "7-10" strength in their fountain-pen glory. The signature page has a rough edge and reverse staining, while the book itself is about GD overall with a heavy interior spine split in between the half-title page and the title page.
