Description

An interesting complement to the Morgan Bulkeley quadruple-signed document in our auction, these personal effects originated with the Bulkeley family. The earliest is an 1846 agreement document in which E.A. Bulkeley (Morgan's father) becomes a law firm partner. There is also a 1901 invitation for then-Governor Morgan Bulkeley to attend Yale University's 200th anniversary celebration. Next comes 11 cabinet photos (7" x 3-1/2", two pictures apiece, resembling a stereoview card) of the Bulkeley home and descendants in Hartford in 1936. The final two pieces are Morgan's personal leather wallet (embossed inside "Morgan G. Bulkeley / Hartford, Conn.") and Morgan Jr.'s Yale "Class of 1907" leatherbound, clasped photo album.
