As with signed baseballs, Ruth was and remains the most popular subject on store-model bats. This 34", 33.9 oz. example shows excellent use with a handle crack, a knob chip, and some checking/grain swelling due to repeated back-barrel contact. It hails from the Babe's prime circa 1926. Full LOA from PSA/DNA, reading in part, "The labeling period of this Babe Ruth retail model bat is defined by the center brand. We have identified the brand as being used by Louisville Slugger from the mid-1920s to 1930. The length of the bat, 34", is stamped into the knob. The appeal of these early classic retail bats is their strong resemblance to professional bats used by the stars of the day. The model 40BR (BR for Babe Ruth) appears on retail bats of Ruth with 125 banded on professional bats. Pro bats were also without the length stamped in the knob. The '40 Series' featured bats of the game's most popular players like Lou Gehrig (40LG), Tris Speaker (40 TS), Ty Cobb (40 TC), Rogers Hornsby (40 RH) and many more."
