Not to be overlooked, this is the first single-signed Al Blozis piece that we've ever handled. Blozis is among the 20 or so NFL players killed in WWII service. A 6-foot-6 tackle, he was a 1943 Pro Bowl selection and an NFL All-1940s Team honoree who died on January 31, 1945, at the tender age of 26, while searching for two platoon members. Hall of Famer Mel Hein once said, "“If [Al Blozis] hadn’t been killed, he could have been the greatest tackle who ever played football.” The 7x9 photo from his Georgetown track-and-field days exhibits a GD front (incidental handling wear throughout) with scrapbook adhesive wear on reverse. The blue-ink personalized signature shows "6-7" strength. Full LOA from JSA.
