Description

A key man for the Oakland A's early-1970s dynasty, Ken Holtzman found himself on the short end of Charlie Finley's purse strings. After a brief stint in Baltimore, Holtzman landed in the Bronx, where he wore the offered New York Yankees hat in 1976-77. This handsome wool cap is labeled KM Pro Model on the interior sweat band, which shows moderate wear and staining. Holtzman's uniform number "53" is written on the underside of the bill, and the classic "NY" logo is embroidered on the front. Accompanying is a Phil Wood LOA, stating this game-worn hat came from the personal collection of Mike Zolotorow, a longtime Memorial Stadium clubhouse man. Wood also states "The bill is uncracked. Cap shows wear, but is in generally excellent condition." and "While you won't find his plaque in Cooperstown, Ken Holtzman did win 9 more games than Sandy Koufax, making him the winningest Jewish pitcher of all-time". Also accompanying is a Holtzman signed ("9-10") 8x10 photo in Yankees uniform, with JSA sticker only.
