World Football's "GOAT" takes the bidding field, with this Pelé match-worn c.1969 Santos jersey. As he did for much of his career with Santos, Pele paced his club to its 12th Campeonato Paulista Série A1 championship in 1969, as the leading scorer, with 26 goals. The offered jersey road into battle with Pelé during this glorious campaign, and for this service, it is an historic treasure from a championship season in Brazil's premier league. Labeled "Hering, São Paulo" inside the collar, this vintage gamer bears the Santos Club badge on the left breast, and Pelé's world famous number "10" is located on the back. Abundant signs of authentic use and wear are evident, including moderate fading of the number patches, considerable fraying on the elastic band sleeve cuffs, and heavy staining/soiling all over, including several spots on the front, that could be blood.
Accompanying is an LOA signed by Maria Cecilia Dos Santos Cardoso, daughter of 2X Brazilian World Cup champion "Garrincha", stating "this shirt belonged to my father and was used by Pelé in the 1969 Santos club team". A style match for this jersey can be seen at Getty Editorial number "502493043".
