Description

Archbishop of Boston from 1944 to 1970, Richard Cushing is perhaps best known for officiating at the wedding of John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier, as well as baptizing many Kennedy kids. He was made a cardinal by Pope John XXIII in 1958 and greatly expanded the Church's reach through new program centers. Offered is an elegant heavy-stock studio portrait (10-1/2" x 13-1/2", EX, crystal clear) by Fabian Bachrach with Cardinal Cushing's personalized signature in the bottom margin. Housed in a vintage toned matte to measure 14-1/2" x 19". Auction LOA from JSA.
