Description

In 1948, the Yankee faithful said goodbye to Babe Ruth (who died in August) and Bucky Harris (who was fired after the season and replaced with Casey Stengel). Then came a record 5 straight championships. This medium-toned, scuffed OAL (Harridge) ball carries mostly "5-7" signatures and barely visible stampings.

Sweet Spot: Joe DiMaggio ("5")

North Panel: Steve Souchock, Bobby Brown, Bill Johnson, Red Embree, Frank Crosetti, Ed Lopat (faint).

South Panel: Charlie Silvera, Bob Porterfield (d.1980), George Stirnweiss (d.1958), Charlie Keller, one other (faint).

West Panel: Yogi Berra (signed Larry), George McQuinn (d.1978), Tommy Byrne, Sherm Lollar (d.1977), one other (faint).

East Panel: Vic Raschi, Hank Bauer, Johnny Lindell, Joe Page.
