Review the transition from "wheat back" to "memorial back" type, with this 1941-1973 Lincoln cent run. This better grade selection is housed in a vintage Coin and Currency Institute album, and is complete for the date range with all "P, D and S" business strike coins. First issued in 1909 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth, this series featured a wheat stalk design on the reverse through the year 1958. In 1959, the reverse design was changed to the Lincoln Memorial building, to mark the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's birth. The offered collection is comprised of (52) 1941-1958 wheat back coins; and (38) 1959-1973 memorial back coins for a total of (90) coins. Condition ranges (90% AU to BU, 10% lesser). The coin in the 1955 Double Die spot, is a "Poor Man's Double Die" example with doubled "5" and the end of the date, that shows VG-FN details. While the great majority of the other coins present naturally, one or two may have been cleaned, and it appears the (3) 1943 steel cents have been replated. The album is solid, with a tight, intact spine.
