In a most unusual Major League career, Lefty O’Doul won two National League batting titles, finished with a career .349 average and was perhaps the most influential ambassador in popularizing baseball in Japan. O’Doul’s hitting prowess and diplomatic endeavors came about, however, after serving four less-than-stellar seasons as a relief pitcher! Encapsulated with autographs assessed “Authentic” by SGC, these cut signatures were rendered by O’Doul (d.1969) and are the most potent you’ll ever behold. The 2-1/4 x 3-1/8” blank scrap is signed “Frank “Lefty” O’Doul” and inscribed “Phillies 1930” on both sides. In both instances, bold signatures combine with gorgeous penmanship to project (“9-10”) strength and clarity.
