The product of a baseball-crazed father whose own dreams of making the big leagues were cut short when he had to support his family at 16, Mike Piazza worked doggedly to improve his talents and was selected “as a favor” in the 62nd round of the 1988 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. Three days shy of his 24th birthday, Piazza made is debut as a September call-up and went to hit 427 career home runs: the most ever by a catcher. Encapsulated and Graded EX 5 (MK) by PSA, this full ticket was issued at Chicago’s Wrigley Field for the September 1, 1992 contest in which Piazza played his first-ever Major League game. The crisp voucher features printed seating/event details and strong perforations. Handwritten initials on the reverse account for the technical qualifier.
