If you can put up with 100-plus strikeouts (which he’s done nine times) and a sub-.200 batting averages (which he’s done three times), Carlos Peña is certain to put the ball in the stands and runs on the scoreboard. In all, eight different teams have opted for Pena’s services and enjoyed 286 home runs while enduring 1,577 strikeouts. This Louisville Slugger (30.5-oz/33”) “R221” signature model bat was wielded and autographed by the Dominican-born slugger during his 2003-2005 seasons with the Detroit Tigers. Graded PSA/DNA GU 8, the white ash weapon features a glossy black “Smith” finish and silver-colored barrel stampings. The uncracked lumber shows excellent game use with ball and stitch impressions about the barrel, as well as slight grain swelling on the hitting surface. Peña’s number “12” is inscribed in silver marker on both the knob and cupped end. Between the center brand and barrel stampings, Peña has signed in silver marker (“9” strength) and inscribed “12.” Full photo LOA from PSA/DNA.
