Description

Lost in tales of the infamous “Curse of the Bambino” are Boston Red Sox triumphs. The focus is (rightfully) placed on unforeseen collapses and repeated near-misses, but leading up to those debacles, the BoSox had set themselves up for failure with impressive victories that placed them ever so close. This 1946 World Series ticket is a reminder of one such win. Issued at Fenway Park for Game 5 of that Fall Classic, this “GRANDSTAND SEAT” voucher provided a vantage point to witness a 6-3 Red Sox win that put them just one win away from a long-awaited championship that, as it turned out, didn’t come until 2004. The thick stock item features printed seating/event details and the facsimile signature of club owner Thomas Yawkey. The item presents (VG) and hails from the contest in which Ted Williams collected his last World Series hit at Fenway Park.
